5. Megumi Shimizu

The beautiful Megumi feels completely out of place in the small village of Sotoba, which offers nothing exciting for a modern young woman. Only two things interest her: The grand villa from bygone days that was bought by a noble family from Europe and Natsuno, a boy she has been eyeing for some time. She secretly follows and observes him from time to time, imagining how he will one day reciprocate her love.
However, that does not happen and the chance seems to be lost when Megumi soon after dies of a heart attack.
What terrible thing has Megumi done?
After Megumi awakens as the first new “Shiki,” i.e., as a vampire, she embraces this new existence. Her actions quickly become darker, and she does not hesitate to attack and kill villagers. Her primary targets are people close to Natsuno or those she perceives as a threat to her love – even if it is not reciprocated at all.
