Go! Go! Loser Ranger!
- Release: 2021 to present
- Rating on MyAnimeList: 7.45/10
What is it about? Thirteen years ago, an army of monsters invaded Earth. The Divine Dragon Rangers joined forces to stop the creatures. Each week, they face a new monster that threatens humanity.
However, behind the scenes, things are quite different: The invasion was stopped after a year. The invaders are forced to produce a new monster each week, which can be destroyed by the Rangers in front of their admirers. But one monster has had enough and fights back against the oppression by infiltrating the superhero organization.
Who is the manga suitable for? This manga is a parody of the Tokusatsu genre, referring to live-action films in Japan that rely heavily on special effects. This includes examples like Godzilla or Kamen Rider.
You can already see from the somewhat unusual premise that this is not a classic representation of superheroes. The story is one of the most creative in the superhero genre. If you’re a big fan of The Boys, you shouldn’t miss this manga.
Zetman
- Release: 2002 to 2014
- Rating on MyAnimeList: 7.62/10
What is it about? Jin Kanzaki possesses special powers and uses them for the good of mankind. He fights under the alias ZET and rivals another superhero known as Alphas. Behind him is Kouga Amagi, who fights with high-tech armor.
Both heroes must fight to protect humanity and defend against monstrous creatures known as Players. Ironically, they were created by the company founded by Kouga’s grandfather. Kouga and Jin uncover several secrets that are hidden in the world.
Who is the manga suitable for? Zetman is, in contrast to many other suggestions in this article, a rather dark manga. ZET finds himself completely overwhelmed in some situations and fails to save people in need. So, if you’re looking for a more serious manga with an adult story, Zetman might be just right for you.
