Charlatans are considered rather untrustworthy individuals due to their background. They are cunning, clever, and have become too good at conning, cheating, and manipulating others due to years of experience.
However, you don’t have to have a malicious disposition to be a charlatan. They can be very helpful to their team and be a choice for their background without having direct bad intentions.
Although a charlatan may seem very fitting for a rogue at first glance, other classes that operate on a Charisma basis can also benefit from this background.
The charlatan also makes a warlock or a bard a skilled thief or master of deception without having to sacrifice charisma points. And it is always practical to call such a candidate a friend and companion.
Charlatans are natural talents: With the talent Gifted, they can choose two more skills in which they are proficient, along with Sleight of hand and Deception, as well as another language, proficiency with a musical instrument, a gaming set, and a vehicle.
The charlatan as a background is suitable for players who enjoy being proficient in many things. Just be prepared to take responsibility in many situations, and a poor roll won’t help you boast.
