Even though one thinks of everything with the emotional storyline of Expedition 33, but certainly not of Mario and Luigi, the comparison is not that far-fetched.

Because regarding the combat system, there are many parallels between Clair Obscur and Super Mario RPG.

In battles, you can increase the damage caused by pressing the button correctly during your attacks and drastically reduce the damage taken during enemy attacks.

The developers of Expedition 33 even admitted that the RPGs of Mario and Luigi inspired the combat system – and you can definitely feel that.

Even though the narrative depth of Mario can hardly compete with the threat posed by the painter, Super Mario RPG is a really good game that is suitable for everyone who is looking for a similar combat system and perhaps doesn’t want to cry for an hour straight with the story.
