Elden Ring
Elden Ring is considered one of the easier games from FromSoftware and is therefore somewhat more accessible than the previous Souls games. This makes the transition from a turn-based system to an action-based system significantly easier.
The vast, freely explorable world has numerous secrets and mysteries to decipher. More than once, you will walk through a hidden passage and suddenly face a boss that takes you down with a single blow – but hey! You surely know that from the chromatic enemies in Expedition 33.
Don’t worry: if you have managed to learn the attack patterns and timing for parrying in Expedition 33, Elden Ring won’t seem as intimidating anymore.
Enemies hiding around corners that strike you in the back and deadly abysses remain a nasty innovation that you have to get used to.
The story could be a bit more frustrating though. Because you don’t get it presented in cutscenes in Elden Ring, but have to piece it together in a somewhat cumbersome way. If you enjoy exploring the world and pulling every bit of story from the item descriptions, you have a grand puzzle here that comes together piece by piece into a larger whole.
