With June, summer usually starts properly, but some cool MMOs receive powerful upgrades this month. Find out here which MMOs you shouldn’t miss in June.
This year, June is the month of major add-ons. Two games, The Elder Scrolls Online and Final Fantasy XIV, are getting big, beefy expansions. Additionally, there are other cool titles, such as Secret World Legends, the remake of the MMO hidden gem The Secret World.
The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind – The add-on for nostalgia fans
The online game The Elder Scrolls Online launched in 2014 with rather mixed success. However, the developers led by Matt Firor did not give up and revamped the clunky game, which was not very appealing for solo or MMO fans, until it finally achieved the success that an Elder Scrolls game deserves. Therefore, it was high time for ESO to get a proper add-on.
ESO Morrowind – a new chapter for The Elder Scrolls Online
The first real add-on is also referred to as the “Next Chapter of ESO” and brings a new story to the island Vvardenfell. This island was already the setting of The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind from the year 2002. The game was the first Elder Scrolls game that was truly successful and highly praised by critics and players.
This was not least due to the cool and bizarre background world. Vvardenfell is a curious island full of strange animals and plants, including the feared cliff racer. Almost everyone who played Morrowind back then must remember the croaking pests with horror.
Morrowind – Save a god
The story of ESO Morrowind revolves around the God King Vivec, who resides in a city named after him and over whom a giant meteor hovers. Nevertheless, Vivec’s power keeps the chunk in the sky and the volcano in the center of the island calm. However, the living god of the Dark Elves is gradually weakening. His divine power is being siphoned from somewhere.
By chance, your hero learns of the plight of the deity, and it is up to you to find healing for Vivec’s sickness and save Morrowind. Your path will lead you all over the vast island, including to the bizarre mushroom towers of the Telvanni mages or the Ashlanders, who live in the shells of giant crabs.
The Elder Scrolls Morrowind – Into battle with the bear
The story and the new world are already highlights of Morrowind, but as is customary for an add-on, you also get a new class and a new game mode. The new hero is called Warden and is a nature magician and ranger. Such a class has been lacking in ESO until now. The Warden can serve as a tank, healer, and damage dealer. As a DD, he can even summon a thick black bear that fights for him permanently.
If you enjoy battling other players but don’t want to deal with the mass brawling and scrapping in Cyrodiil, you can compete in the new Battlegrounds in small teams on limited terrain. Ideal if you just want to do some quick PVP and don’t feel like the lengthy campaigns in the central province.
Morrowind – So much to do
In addition to all these features, there are a ton of new recipes, items, quests, achievements, houses, and collectibles that you can find and earn on Vvardenfell. So if you want to spend hours and days in a unique MMO world, you should mark June 6th in your calendar, because that’s when Morrowind will be released for The Elder Scrolls Online on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
