What is Albion Online? Albion Online is a sandbox MMORPG from Berlin. As is typical for sandbox games, you can move freely and almost do whatever you want. There is no red thread guiding you through the game.
Instead, you explore a colorful fantasy world, gather resources, build your hero, and engage in hard battles with other players. PvP always plays a significant role in Albion.
The combat system is dynamic and requires you to dodge attacks and interrupt them. This is especially important in PvP and expeditions.
Also interesting: If you get knocked out, your opponents can loot your corpse. Valuable high-end equipment is therefore not safe.
What’s new in Albion Online?
Albion Online is now finally free-to-play since the recent update called “Oberon”. You can now download the game via the client or Steam and play for free.
However, there is still the option to pay real money for a premium status and receive bonuses for level progression or gathering. You can also exchange in-game currency for real money currency and, with enough effort, grind for premium status.
With the free-to-play transition, the servers of Albion are once again well populated. This has resulted in occasional performance issues and queues.
Why should you play Albion Online?
If you’re interested in a sandbox MMORPG where you can be free to develop, Albion Online might be your game. But you should not shy away from grind, as it is an essential part of Albion Online from the start.
And also, your equipment shouldn’t be too precious to you, as you might quickly lose it in PvP.
