The Åre Murders
Scandinavia produces quite good crime and thriller series. In 2025, the Netflix series The Åre Murders demonstrated this. The two cases addressed in the first season are not particularly complex, but the simple story benefits greatly from the atmosphere and the literally cold sets.
In a Swedish ski resort, Hanna Ahlander and Daniel Lindskog investigate. While it is bustling with tourists during the day, the other side of such a snowy area shows itself at night. The cold translates when watching and makes the murders and heavy fates appear even more depressing.
What some viewers might find negative: The personal stories of the main characters are told but appear within the cases as sad fates that hardly can be changed. This can pull viewers down, but if you like this cold atmosphere
