1. Black Swan and Perfect Blue
Darren Aronofsky released Black Swan in 2010. The psychological thriller dealt with ballet and the slow self-destruction of the dancer Nina Sayers, portrayed in the film by Natalie Portman. In this, there are hallucinations and unrealistic scenes with horror elements.
The film strongly resembles Satoshi Kon’s masterpiece Perfect Blue. Mima is a former idol who now wants to work as an actress. However, in the film, she is stalked by an obsessed fan, but the true horror occurs in her mind, filled with hallucinations and an old self.
Both films are about success, pressure, and the resulting destruction of the self.
