The Cell
Now it gets obscure. The Cell is a science fiction thriller starring Jennifer Lopez. She plays psychologist Catherine, who dives into the subconscious of coma patients through therapy. This is intended to help them upon awakening.
Eventually, the FBI approaches her with a request: Catherine is to penetrate the mind of an arrested serial killer and find out where his victim is hidden. She agrees and experiences a surreal journey through the thoughts of this person. As in Inception, the personality of the dreamer is reflected in the places and landscapes.
The Cell features impressive visuals and shines with disturbing creativity. The film is not for the faint of heart. It should be said: Some moments you will never forget.
What IMDb ratings say: The Cell is quite a controversial film and has a score of 6.4 on IMDb with 110,549 ratings.
Fun Fact: The film’s costume designer, Eiko Ishioka, has previously designed outfits for Bram Stoker’s Dracula – and you can definitely see that. They are one reason for the great look of the film.
Mulholland Drive
Inception deals with dreams, and if there is another filmmaker who has extensively explored this topic, it is David Lynch. In Mulholland Drive, an ambitious young actress dives into the so-called “dream factory” Hollywood – and awakens in a nightmare.
Skillfully, the film also plays with dream and reality. As a viewer, you have to consider whether the characters are awake or dreaming. Absurd experiences occur on all levels. In the end, you are left with a smoking head. Those who make the effort to unravel the film’s puzzle will be rewarded with a very satisfying result.

Fun Fact: The Mulholland Drive actually exists; it is a road that runs above the famous Hollywood sign in Los Angeles.
