The creators of Baldur’s Gate 3 recommend 5 mods that customize and enhance your gameplay experience. We’ll tell you which mods those are.
Finally, the major Patch 7 is live in Baldur’s Gate 3 – after some waiting, now also on consoles, namely PlayStation and Xbox. This also comes with official mod support. It is now possible to install mods on consoles to play various community contents or to expand or customize the game.
5 mods you should try according to Larian
Although the selection of mods seems virtually endless (and the list grows every few days), Larian has made a small pre-selection and recommends 5 different mods. These range from simple, additional adjustments to character appearance to significant changes in gameplay.
Custom Dice
This is more about a whole bunch of different mods than a single adjustment. You can customize the design of the dice and give it a new coat of paint. Want a die in the dark colors of the goddess Shar? Or want to embrace your druid side with the green Feywild colors? The selection of dice is virtually endless. A small but fine change if you don’t want to change too much about the game but still want a little new touch.
FaerunColors
If you like to customize your gear color-wise and are dissatisfied with the limited options in the game, then FaerunColors is the solution. This modification adds around 100 new colors to the game, which you can easily access in camp. This allows you to dye your gear as you wish.
The colors are inspired by well-known characters and gods of the Faerun world, such as Bahamut, Ilmater, or Shar.
Adjustable Party Limit
Do you sometimes find it annoying when you need a specific character for a conversation, but they are in camp? That doesn’t have to be the case anymore. With Adjustable Party Limit, you can bypass the limit of 4 characters in the group and have up to 16 heroes in your party.
This works in multiplayer as well, allowing you to assign additional characters to all companions if you wish.
Warning: This mod affects the difficulty of the game and reduces it, as fights become significantly easier when you have more party members active at the same time. Also, there are events and dialogues that only occur when you explicitly do not have certain party members with you.
UnlockLevelCurve
In Baldur’s Gate 3, you reach the maximum level of 12 relatively early. After that, you can only improve your heroes through equipment or temporary buffs (like elixirs). However, the game actually goes up to character level 20 in Dungeons & Dragons. Anyone who wants to explore that remaining 8 levels can do so with the mod UnlockLevelCurve. This allows your characters to level up to level 20 and grants them new spells and abilities.
Warning: This mod drastically affects the difficulty of the game, as the game is designed to be completed at level 12. The fights near the end become significantly easier than originally intended.
All Camp Clothes & Dies
When you’re not beating up goblins or stepping through severed tentacles, you want to relax at camp – but that can’t be done in armor, but best in cozy camp clothes. However, collecting them is cumbersome and most of the time, you just leave the junk behind during the adventure.
The mod All Camp Clothes & Dies sneaks some bags into your camp’s large chest. In these bags, you will find all camp clothing, all colors available in the game, and also all underwear of current and potential companions. This way, you can ensure that your heroes have the prettiest clothes (or the most risqué underwear) and look perfect in every cutscene.
If you can’t make use of these mods, there are many more to choose from that you should definitely check out. The list is long and extensive, so there is definitely something for every player. If you need more mods, we have presented our 10 best mods for Baldur’s Gate 3.
