Leaks for the ratings in FC 25 indicate that some players might lose significant speed. One player is even expected to be almost half as fast.
This is what speed means in EA FC: Speed has been the stat that overshadowed everything in FIFA for years. Players with a high speed stat could easily outrun their opponents.
With the introduction of acceleration types in FIFA 23 and the expansion of this in FC 24, speed was still important, but it was no longer the one meta stat. Even players who were significantly slower than their opponents could still catch up on the field with the right acceleration type.
What role speed will play in the new FC 25 remains to be seen. For some players, we can only hope that it won’t play a major role, as they are expected to be significantly slower according to leaks.
Leaks show significant speed downgrades for 5 players

Meanwhile, the site FUT Scoreboard has almost the entire database for FC 25. Therefore, we are listing 5 players for whom EA is expected to have significantly reduced speed.
In the following list, you will see first the player (his club), then his speed stat in FC 24 and his expected lower (↘) speed stat in FC 25. In parentheses, we have added the difference.
At this point, we want to note that we can currently only base this on leaks, which means whether the cards will actually appear like this in FC 25 is still open.
Jorginho (FC Arsenal) – 53 ↘ 46 (-7)
The Italian national player has never been considered a sprint king, but rather has his quality in dribbling and passing. In recent years, his speed has gradually declined.
In the new FC 25, he even has to expect another downgrade from 53 to 46.
Maguire (Manchester United) – 46 ↘ 37 (-9)
Maguire’s strengths certainly lie in other areas than acceleration and top speed. The former captain of the English national team is also not getting any younger.
EA is expected to reduce his speed by another 9 points. Thus, he becomes the slowest player on our list.
Palhinha (FC Bayern Munich) – 62 ↘ 52 (-10)
The Bayern’s new signing actually has one main task: to hold the team together in defensive midfield. The Portuguese relies a lot on his size and physicality.
His speed in FC 25 will be discouraging for many players. According to leaks, his speed is expected to drop by a whole 10 points.
Grimaldo (Bayer Leverkusen) – 87 ↘ 74 (-13)
Grimaldo’s situation is a bit different. The Spaniard actually has reason to rejoice. In the overall rating, the wing-back from Leverkusen jumps from an 84 to an 86 and is likely to be among the top 100 best gold cards in FC 25.
However, it seems that no one has told him about his speed stat. With a -13 point drop, Grimaldo’s speed will drop to 74. This is particularly troublesome for his position on the wing, as he will repeatedly face fast wingers.
Casemiro (Manchester United) – 63 ↘ 38 (-25)
The Brazilian veteran will turn 33 in spring 2025. Casemiro’s very robust and physical playing style in recent years has taken its toll. He has never been the fastest, nor did he need to be, as he could cleverly anticipate the actions of his opponents.
And in FC 25? Let’s just say: he will bitterly need those anticipatory skills to even make it into a team in FC 25. His speed will drop a whole 25 points.
That brings us to the end of our list of the most significant speed downgrades in FC 25. If these downgrades actually happen, many of these cards, excluding Grimaldo, will not be very popular.
