Survivor-Likes

In “Bullet Hell” games, it’s about avoiding a growing amount of projectiles without being able to destroy the attackers themselves. A variation of this genre established itself in 2022 with the release of Vampire Survivors. Here, it’s less about dodging. Instead, you create the bullet storm yourself and try to defeat the waves of attacking enemies. Nevertheless, only the movement of the character can be controlled, as the weapons fire automatically.
There is no truly uniform term for it, but three terms have emerged that are frequently used. Following Bullet Hells, people refer to it as “Bullet Heaven” or “Reverse Bullet Hell.” Since the genre has been so significantly shaped by Vampire Survivors, a common term is also “Survivor-Like.” Hence, the genre has earned its place on this list.
Other well-known representatives include Brotato, 20 Minutes Till Dawn, or Nordic Ashes.
