In September, several major games like Borderlands 4 or long-awaited favorites like Hollow Knight: Silksong celebrated their release. However, there are other games on Steam that should not be overlooked during this hype. In this list, we present 5 of them.
While games like Borderlands 4, the current bestseller on Steam, are experiencing a lot of hype, some other games get overshadowed by this hype.
Nevertheless, there are certainly noteworthy releases that have taken place in September 2025 and will continue to do so, and we want to give you a little nudge for further inspirations with this list.
If you have completely lost track of other releases because of Borderlands 4, or if the new shooter simply does not interest you at all, these games might be for you.
The order of the games says nothing about their ratings, but is based on the release date of the mentioned games. The list serves as an informative source of inspiration for browsing.
Here you can see the trailer for the first candidate in this list, Cronos: The New Dawn
Cronos: The New Dawn
Release date: September 5, 2025 on Steam
Rating: Very Positive (86% of 2,889 user reviews are positive)
Cronos: The New Dawn by Bloober Team is a survival horror game in which a past event forever changed humanity and led to a devastated and extremely dangerous wasteland in the future.
The world is full of grotesque beings that can pose a real challenge as remnants of human civilization. These creatures are not only aggressive but can merge together, or rather, devour each other to become even more persistent, faster, and simply more horrific.
The player’s task is to find certain people in the past who did not survive the apocalypse but are crucial means to change the future. However, the more one interacts with the souls of these individuals, the more it influences the mind of the playable character.
Players on Steam report how they find Cronos: The New Dawn:
- “Cronos: The New Dawn feels like the illegitimate child of Dead Space and Resident Evil,” writes DarkTerminator (via Steam).
- “I’m still way too blown away by the awesome game that I have no neurons left to write a detailed review. :)” Phil eventually manages to write (via Steam).
- “Cronos has a really dense atmosphere. I never thought it would captivate me like this. It’s quite difficult at times, but never frustrating,” writes Flammus (via Steam).
