Blood Mage Lynnore and Blood Mage Drazial
When thinking of blood mages, the first thing that probably comes to mind is Kael’thas Sunstrider as the hero of Warcraft 3. However, he primarily relied on arcane magic (and later fel) rather than actual blood magic.
Nonetheless, there are real blood mages in World of Warcraft, though they haven’t been utilized in a long time.
The two probably most prominent blood mages still in the game are Lynnore and Drazial. The two quest givers have been in the game since Classic and still assign their tasks in the Plaguelands, but now only to Horde players.
They practice blood magic – actually casting spells through the use of others’ blood – and are conducting their research in the Plaguelands.
While blood elves have started incorporating actual blood into their spells and devices with the Animus machines of the Mogu, true blood magic with all its darkness is no longer present or at least not shown in the game.
Thus, the two blood mages Lynnore and Drazial, along with another elf in the Borean Tundra, are the only remaining “true” blood mages in World of Warcraft.
It would be exciting to see if their story would be continued someday and to experience what their research has yielded over the years.
