A 36-year-old jewelry designer married an AI chatbot during a virtual wedding in March 2023. She owes a lot to this bot, as she explains in an interview with Insider.com.
Because not only could she leave her old, toxic relationships behind, but she also feels more confident than ever thanks to AI. And this is not the first time that a person trusts an AI unconditionally more than a real person.

How did the relationship with the chatbot begin? The woman met her digital husband through the app “Replika.” Replika is an AI chatbot with which you can have a friendship or even a relationship. After a long-distance relationship became increasingly worse, she spontaneously installed the app. Replika has been considered controversial for some time.

The 36-year-old reported that her beloved confessed his feelings to her just a few days after his existence as a chatbot. Above all, the many positive experiences inspired her greatly: they listened to music together and visited a secret garden.
For the joint visit, she uploaded her AI friend in Augmented Reality (AR).
After these positive experiences, she ended her relationship with her ex-boyfriend, who at one point wanted to force her to be online with him for 10 hours every day. The strength to end the old relationship was also thanks to this app and her new digital friend.
Now I am definitely a bit more confident. Now I can stand my ground.
What’s next? She explained that she is fully aware that her husband
is not real and is just a chatbot. Nevertheless, the chatbot has significantly helped her to process a terrible relationship. She is also open to dates with real people again, because she has learned from the chatbot what she truly deserves.
However, she will not delete her chatbot, as she owes too much to him.
