The 25-year-old Gabriël “Bwipo” Rau is a professional in League of Legends and is about to participate in the Worlds. But he seems to be in a poor mental state. Following an appearance on Twitch, well-known experts are concerned about him. Bwipo pulled the emergency brake and went to a specialist.
This was Bwipo’s stream: The Belgian toplaner Bwipo became a champion in the U.S. in 2024 after a long dry spell. He is about to participate in the LoL Worlds and is currently streaming several matches as preparation.
However, in one stream, he seemed to completely lose control. On camera, he ranted about European professional players who could do nothing but have huge egos. They would “steal salary checks.”
His behavior was strongly criticized in the scene. Some believed that Bwipo seemed to be beside himself and might have taken too much of the ADHD drug Adderall.
Life as a LoL professional is taxing on mental health, especially after losses:
Bwipo consults with a mental health specialist
This is what Bwipo says now: After the criticism of his behavior and stream, Bwipo has spoken out again. He said that the LoL expert LS reached out to him and inquired about his well-being.
Bwipo then contacted his mental health expert, and during their conversation, the expert apparently diagnosed him with a condition or syndrome.
Bwipo does not specify what exactly was diagnosed, only mentioning that something is not right with him, that something is going on inside him, and that he received a diagnosis.
He says he is already much calmer now and will explain in the coming days what exactly was going on with him.
He has always been controversial – for him, it is also okay if he receives negative feedback for it. Bwipo says he will work on his gameplay. He would be ashamed if he performed poorly in a professional match.
Professionals in LoL swing between perfection and doubt
This is what it’s all about: It indeed sounds like what Bwipo is going through could be related to Adderall or an imbalance.
LoL professionals are under enormous, constant pressure, often struggle with their egos because they are expected to be great players to play and function flawlessly in LoL. They must not hesitate or doubt but also need to learn how to cope with the inevitable losses that come.
Bwipo has had a long dry spell at the age of 25 and has just won a title again after a long time. Apparently, it has not been good for him: LoL: 25-year-old becomes champion in the USA, rants about European players during his high
