Nick “Nickmercs” Kolcheff on Twitch and Guy “DrDisrespect” Beahm on YouTube are among the most important and largest streamers of Call of Duty: Warzone. The battle royale recently launched Season 2, and both streaming stars are not exactly thrilled with the latest content drop.
What’s going on? Nickmercs and DrDisrespect are fans of Call of Duty: Warzone and spend a decent part of their streams on the battlefields of the battle royale.
Both are heavyweight streamers in Warzone – Nickmercs peaked at over 85,000 viewers on Twitch on the release day of Season 2 (via TwitchMetrics), and Doc had more than 500,000 clicks on his YouTube stream at the season start (as of February 2nd, 3 PM).
But the two not only share the success of their Warzone streams. Nickmercs and DrDisrespect also have a similar opinion about the major patch that came with Season 2 – they can’t stand it at all.
Nickmercs believes Season 2 made Warzone worse
What does Nickmercs say about Season 2? In his English YouTube VoD about Season 2, he peacefully and amicably scrolls through the patch notes of the new season. He particularly appreciates the adjustments regarding damage taken from the gas and the new reactive skins.
But just a few hours later, little remains of that good feeling. In his stream, he gets upset about the issues of the update, claiming that Warzone is worse after the patch than before.
The mood in the stream was low, and his chat tried to cheer him up. But he responded: “Guys, I’m fine. It’s just this update that’s so damn bad. The game is worse today than yesterday. How is that possible? And it really is worse. The Gulag is crap! It’s terrible! The ship is loud and pointless” (via Dexerto). Shortly after, the following clip was created:
He wants to explain and further express his problems with the update. But at that moment, the loud cutscene interrupts him, which was played before every single match in the first almost 12 hours after the update.
He briefly wanted to give up but then shouted his opinion into the microphone: “I compare the game with other games that regularly bring updates. And when I compare this update to other updates [from other games], I conclude that this update is terrible!” He particularly mentions Fortnite, whose update policy he apparently likes much better.
The loud cutscene disappeared on the day of the update, but Nickmercs remains dissatisfied with Season 2.
DrDisrespect is disappointed and believes people are getting bored
What does Doc say about Season 2? DrDisrespect is not quite as specific but also expresses disappointment with the start of the new season. In a compilation of his stream highlights from the second day of the update, he also speaks negatively about the major patch. We embed the English video here for you; the relevant scenes start at 18:30 minutes:
For him, stream snipers are particularly an issue. These are players who end up in the same lobby as a streamer and use his live broadcast to take down the streamer.
He believes the update is not attractive enough to keep players properly engaged and prevent stream sniping. In his opinion, no new players are coming in if Warzone only delivers such updates: “It’s pretty clear that the game is currently not attracting new people and that people [in the current state of the game] are getting lost and turning into zombies. They don’t know what to do”.
Instead of playing well, players want to take a “piece” from him by shooting the Doc off the map during stream sniping – basically out of boredom.
He then starts another match with his duo partner “ZLaner”, in which it’s relatively quickly back to the Gulag. During the duel for respawn, he says: “This patch is terrible.” Shaking his head, he loses his match and was initially fed up with Warzone.
Season 2 brought NPC zombies – but everyone is waiting for a new map
With Season 2, the stories of Black Ops Cold War and Warzone are connected. This brought permanent zombies to the map Verdansk, along with a new location – the shipwreck. But story is not necessarily the most sought-after content in a battle royale.
And although a few new locations were added, the content for Warzone in Season 2 was rather meager. Also, some locations had to be removed:
- New additions: New shipwreck with small zombie event
- New additions: 3 rocket silos with bunker loot
- Removed: The entire subway system
- Removed: The stadium garage
- Removed: The normal bunkers (except bunker 10)
After almost a complete drought since the launch of the first season in mid-December 2020, some expected a bit more. For example, concrete announcements about a new large Warzone map. So far, however, there are only rumors and speculation. But the signs of a significant change in April 2021 are increasing.
