However, the final battle against the Kingdom is extremely brutal. One by one, all the Sailor Warriors die, except for Sailor Moon. The Warriors sacrifice themselves to protect Sailor Moon. So she is left alone and crying after the deaths of her friends.

But that is not all: Mamoru Chiba, Sailor Moon’s boyfriend and a useless companion, was brainwashed and now attempts to kill Sailor Moon. It happens that Mamoru can remember his old self again – but shortly afterward, he dies too.
The two episodes are a pure massacre compared to other episodes, which had an impact on viewers. Later, the Sailor Warriors were revived, but the traumatic scenes remained in memory.

What happened to the viewers? In the 1993 Animage magazine, viewers reported how they experienced the season finale of Sailor Moon. A radio DJ named Arata Owada reported that his daughter did not cope well with the finale.
His daughter was reportedly so shocked by the ending that she had to stay in bed with a fever of 40 °C. She allegedly did not go to kindergarten for a week. At that time, the doctor diagnosed an autointoxication triggered by trauma or shock.
According to the blog Tuxedo Unmasked, this is not an isolated case. There are many examples where children did not go to school or individuals did not eat for several days. A Reddit post explains that some children stayed in bed crying or could not stop crying. Some children even developed stomachaches.
A 32-year-old mother also worried about her daughter. She feared that her child might believe that one could be revived after death, just like the Sailor Warriors do in the anime.
