In Fortnite there was a World Cup in 2019 where, out of 40 million participants, only one could emerge as the winner. That was Bugha, a young teenager, who trained privately with his father up to that point. But what is he doing today?
Who is Bugha? Kyle Giersdorf, also known by the nickname “Bugha“, is an 18-year-old boy who became known as the winner of the World Cup in 2019. Before that, Kyle was a relatively unknown pro in the Fortnite scene. But what is he doing now?

What happened after the victory? After his victory, Bugha had to pay taxes on most of his $3 million winnings. Nevertheless, he remains present in the esports scene. However, one could describe his victory as a certain one-hit-wonder, as the competition is fierce. Bugha is one of the talents in Fortnite, but gradually more experts are emerging who could contest his place.
Despite all this, he continues to stream on Twitch and shares his progress on Twitter, which he and his teammates have achieved in various cups.
Furthermore, he promotes his sponsorships, such as with the clothing brand “Hollister” or a new banking institution called “Step.” This allows teenagers to manage their money without hassle and without fees.
His immortalization in Fortnite: Bugha was honored in mid-2021 with a skin from the Icon Series. This skin represents him. As a back bling, he carries the World Cup trophy, in which his dog “Zoey” sits.
While other streamers, like Ninja, literally hunted down Epic Games to get a skin resembling themselves, Bugha received it without much fuss.
After all this, there was also a Bugha Cup, which had a prize pool of $100,000. This tournament was held under Bugha’s name and appeared as a reminder of his victory in the World Cup.
Is he still among the best? Among the best, yes, but he is arguably not the best anymore. Another player could contest his place. His name is Diego “Arkhram” Palma and he is 18 years old. Arkhram is a player of the team “100 Thieves” and has been with this team since 2019.
In recent seasons, he has developed into one of the best players. He was also part of a team that placed first in the last two Fortnite Champion Series. This is no easy task and only a few players manage to do it. Moreover, he has performed very well in recent Cash Cups.
Arkhram’s performances are still improvable, as he does have his weaknesses in team fights from time to time. Despite this, he comes out with high scores in solo tournaments. Arkhram has achieved great results recently; whether he can continue this towards the end of 2021 remains to be seen.
