What do I need to know about the license? We already mentioned Star Wars once, in Rank 9. Every child should know the universe with the Jedi, Sith, droids, and Ewoks, so we’ll spare you further words and jump straight to the game.
What do I need to know about the game? The popular Star Wars license, the role-playing experts from BioWare, and a budget likely in the triple digits should have made SWTOR the MMORPG that could finally dethrone World of Warcraft.
And indeed, the leveling phase remains one of the best in the genre in terms of storytelling and story presentation due to the mostly wonderfully written class quest lines. The second Star Wars MMORPG is also fun to play, even if it feels somewhat conservative.
The big issue was back then that the main story ended with a thrilling finale and the credits, after which a joyless endgame featuring dailies, PvP, and a few group challenges awaited players. It took far too long for the game’s greatest strengths to be further developed.
Although SWTOR ultimately couldn’t shake WoW’s throne, since its launch there have been many excellent new story content that exudes Star Wars flair from every pore. Over the years, the MMORPG has thus become one of the highest-rated genre representatives on Steam.
