What do I need to know about the license? A full 10 years before “The Dark Eye” (i.e., in 1974), the first pen-and-paper role-playing game of Dungeons & Dragons started to conquer the hearts of many RP fans. More than 50 years later, we look back at various editions of the rules as well as countless movies, series, computer games, novels, and more.
There is also the enormous influence that the D&D universe has had and continues to have on other role-playing rule sets, games, monster designs, and more. And of course, there have been numerous references to Dungeons & Dragons in films and series, such as in “The Big Bang Theory,” “The IT Crowd,” or “Community.”

What do I need to know about the game? Dungeons & Dragons Online, released in March 2006, has been overshadowed from day one by World of Warcraft and could never break free of it. The technology and somewhat repetitive gameplay were too average. Many game testers would probably rate it a typical high 60 or low 70.
Most fun is certainly had in DDO when you dive into the numerous dungeons with a well-coordinated group and can maximize the well-implemented D&D system with the various classes and their advantages and disadvantages.
Like many other role-playing games for the D&D universe, DDO also places a rather large focus on fighting, while the social aspect of the pen-and-paper original is somewhat downplayed despite the MMO experience. Also, in the narrative area, the online role-playing game cannot fully exploit the potential of the original. This year, however, modern servers were introduced for everyone: MMORPG to Dungeons & Dragons learns from The Lord of the Rings, finally opens the only modern server for everyone
