Place 1: Sazae-san
- Episodes: > 8,000
- Completed: still ongoing
What is it about? Unlike Doraemon and Ojarumaru, Sazae-san is much more realistic. In this slice-of-life anime, it’s about the daily life of the Isono/Fuguta extended family, all living together under one roof in Tokyo. There is no continuous story, rather absolutely everyday things are addressed, such as:
- The father misplaces his glasses
- The youngest sibling tries to hide bad grades
- The family plans an outing
Although the series has been running for over 50 years, the individual characters do not age. The world hardly changes either, with modern technology appearing very rarely. For example, the televisions are CRTs.
Who is the anime intended for? Just as the anime includes all generations of a family, the series is intended for all age groups. Therefore, grandparents, parents, and children can sit together in front of the television. Adults are specifically lured with the “good old values.”
Sazae-san is the anime with the highest number of episodes in the Top 5. An episode here lasts an average of 23 minutes – all the more astonishing is how many episodes there are now. The anime has been running continuously since 1969.
All these animes impress with their enormous number of episodes. However, there are also series that also rely on length – but just in the title. MeinMMO has listed several animes that have particularly long names, which almost spoil the entire story: 5 Animes with such long names that you’ll forget the beginning after reading
