The Solstice of Heroes has begun in Destiny 2 and allows you to upgrade a specific armor piece in multiple stages. This is quite a grind, especially if you want to craft the armor for all three characters. We have gathered some tips for you that should make the Solstice easier.
What are these tips? With the Weekly Reset on July 30, the Solstice of Heroes has started. The Summer Festival was also present last year and is meant to conclude the current year in Destiny 2.
Furthermore, it is necessary to upgrade a special Solstice armor. The armor will be the first to utilize the new Armor 2.0 system from Shadowkeep.
While the tasks for the armor are listed on each individual piece, there are details that are explained very little. We have collected some tips and tricks from the Destiny community that can help you with the Solstice event.
1. You must wear the respective armor piece for which you want to complete the task
Last year, you had to equip the respective armor piece for which you wanted to complete the challenge – and it is the same now. Simply equip the appropriate armor piece and complete the designated task for it.
This means, conversely, that you can freely change other gear not needed for a specific task. Use this, for example, to equip an exotic that helps you in the situation. Or equip your regular gear to boost your power level.
2. You must have completed the entire set to upgrade it
This tip is important because it is not explained to you in the game. The Solstice armor can be upgraded from a green set to a masterpiece. However, to improve the entire set, you must have completed all tasks on the individual armor pieces.
Upgrading an individual armor piece does not work. The armor can only be improved as a whole by one level.
3. Save some bounties for the blue armor
A task that will likely occupy you for a longer period of time is presented to you with the blue armor. You will need to complete 50 bounties.
By this, we mean regular bounties (not Solstice bounties). Just collect the bounties and turn them in once you have the blue armor.
By the way, the bounties from the Eververse also count for this task. These are very easy to complete and can always be accepted again.
4. Pay attention to the daily element if tasks aren’t credited
There are many different tasks that require you to kill a specific type of enemy or collect kills in various activities. Some players report that kills for specific tasks are not being credited to them.
This could be because the challenges are tied to the respective element that is active as a bonus on that day. Check in your character overview which of the three elements is active and adjust your focus and your weapons accordingly.
5. Grab a fireteam for specific tasks
Some armor tasks require you to collect a large number of orbs or to play with a team of three players with a coordinated element focus.
It’s best to coordinate with your clan, friends, or with random guardians using LFG groups. Together, it will be easy for you to collect large amounts of orbs if you all have the same focus and appropriate weapons.
6. You don’t need to farm key fragments
To open Solstice packages, you need 15 key fragments each. You get these from every possible activity. While you may not have enough keys at the beginning to open the packages, they will accumulate during the event.
Through the various armor tasks, you will have to visit all sorts of activities anyway. Crucible matches, Gambit, and strikes give you about 12 to 17 keys per run. Public events reward you with five fragments each. In addition, there are also bounties that provide you with keys.
If you play Destiny 2 regularly during the event, you’ll probably have more key fragments than you could ever use.
7. Wait to open the Solstice packages until you have the legendary armor set
Do not open any more packages after you have opened the ten packages needed for your armor. It may feel like torture for some guardians to have so many Solstice packages in the inventory and then not be allowed to open them. However, waiting is worth it.
Once you have earned the legendary version of the Solstice armor, you will receive additional armor pieces from the Solstice packages. This way, you can farm armors with the perks that suit you.
8. Use the teleporters to reach higher places
The fight in the European Aether Zone is an action-packed melee that also brings the battle to higher places. You can jump over every wall and fence. Some bosses even flee to the roofs of the ruined zone. Chasing the enemies can sometimes be quite challenging.
However, there are teleporters spread throughout the map that will launch you high into the air and onto various rooftops. The teleporters are well hidden but can be seen by a bright glow.
9. Crystals grant you extra orbs
In the European Aether Zone, you will find hidden crystals that glow bright yellow. Destroy these to gain an extra amount of elemental spheres. Besides the kills in the zone, this is a good way to quickly obtain the elemental buffs:
- With a full Solar Surge, Guardians emit a wave of solar energy that deals damage around them
- With Void Surge, players crouching become invisible and gain “True Sight”, the perk of the exotic bow Wishender and the Spectral Blade Hunter. This allows enemies to be seen and marked even behind walls or other objects.
- The Arc Surge increases the movement speed and increases the damage of melee attacks and swords
10. Ghosts and the Void Hunter perk do not show you the locations of crates in the EAZ
This “tip” is often circulated within the Destiny community, but it is unfortunately incorrect. Neither ghosts that show crates within a certain radius, nor the focus of the Void Hunter that marks crates and resources on the radar, show the caches when searching in the European Aether Zone.
The crates will be shown to you at the beginning and end of the search and will be marked when you are near them.
11. Triumph moments will be extended, but the Solstice of Heroes will not
Last night, Bungie announced that the release of the upcoming Shadowkeep expansion has been postponed by two weeks to October 1. This will extend the current Season of Opulence as well as the Triumph moments. The Triumph moments were supposed to end on August 27, but will now run until September 17.
However, nothing is changing with the Solstice of Heroes. This event will end as planned on August 27.
