Actually named Kreia, her Sith name can likely be derived from the word “traitor.” She was once a Jedi Master, living about 4,000 years before the films. She was known for her vast wisdom and for using her own methods when it came to training young Jedi.
Eventually, she turned to the Sith and had powerful apprentices like Darth Sion or Darth Nihilus. After being betrayed by them, Traya retreated and, out of vengeance, planned to extinguish the Force itself. As one might imagine, she failed at that. Her wisdom, as well as her ability to fight solely with the Force and refrain from using her hands, make her an interesting candidate for a film – complete with cool fight scenes.
