The Baby from Resident Evil Village
House Beneviento in Resident Evil Village is the place where this thing lives. And better than “thing,” you don’t want to call this creature. It is a large, slimy baby that pulls its mutated, drooling body through the corridors of the house – and prefers to shove itself into the player’s mouth.
The darkness. The linear corridors. The size of the baby, which fills the entire space with its truly disturbing face and huge mouth. All of this makes this level a truly nightmarish experience. And then there are those unpleasant, shrill noises it makes that truly give you goosebumps.
I am a big fan of Resident Evil Village and have played it several times. However, House Beneviento has pushed me emotionally and physically to my limits every time.
This baby is for me the epitome of horror. And I’m happy to admit that I could only play this level without sound and with bright festive lighting in the whole room, as this thing disturbed me so much.
I tip my hat to the designers of this monster because despite my high pulse and all-over fear sweat, I am impressed (Lady Dimitrescu’s estate is still my favorite).
