Whether in movies, books, or other media – creepy monsters are everywhere in pop culture. In this list, we present 10 of them that don’t mean well for you.
How was the list created? We looked at various monsters from the horror genre and its hybrids. This means that sci-fi horror is also represented here.
The monsters can be fantastic or completely realistic, as long as they are dangerously threatening for their own personal reasons. Some of them originate from the imagination of their creators, while others are located in our real world or at least inspired by it.
The rankings are of course purely subjective, but we are curious about your personal opinion. So we won’t waste any more words on the introduction, duck down, things are about to get tense!
Rank 10: Frankenstein’s Monster
One of the biggest misconceptions in pop culture is to call the monster itself “Frankenstein”. Rather, this name belongs to the creator of the creature, Victor Frankenstein. He creates the eerie, assembled being and then turns away in disgust.
What follows is basically a tragic and sad story. The monster wants to become part of society but remains unsuccessful. This leads to a desire for revenge, and the creature develops a hatred for humanity.
You wouldn’t want to encounter such a revenge-driven being. It stands at about 240 cm tall, larger than most humans, possesses great strength, and kills without hesitation. The monster is one of the most famous creatures of the horror genre, mainly due to the iconic portrayal by actor Boris Karloff in the 1931 film adaptation.
