Muhammad Ali
- Defeated Superman in: “Superman vs. Muhammad Ali” (1978)
From time to time, people from our real world make it into the comic universe of DC. This happened in the case of the legendary boxer Muhammad Ali, who was part of the special “Superman vs. Muhammad Ali” released in 1978.
In this story, the world is threatened by the extraterrestrial Scrubbs. Their leader wants to let his best fighter face Superman or Ali. Who of the two will get the chance will be decided in a preliminary match. However, there are special rules: the fight must take place on the planet Bodace, as Superman’s powers do not work due to the red sun shining there.
He and Ali are given a day to train together. Thanks to the time travel technology housed in the Fortress of Solitude, they train much longer – nearly leading to the cancellation of the upcoming fight by the Scrubbs.
When the confrontation finally occurs between Muhammad Ali and Superman, the latter has to face a boxing champion without his powers. For a long time, both are equally strong, but in the end, Ali wins thanks to his long experience. Superman ends up defeated in the dust.
