One of the most impressive and iconic battles from Star Wars is that on the ice planet Hoth. The AT-ATs are employed, large combat machines that at first glance resemble dinosaurs or elephants.
This way, the Empire gives the rebels a hard time. But they respond with a lot of firepower and clever tactics. Among others, they use ropes to bring down the cumbersome AT-ATs. However, when one specimen falls, you can see how a flap opens under one of its feet and a rod gives the AT-AT a push.
The combat machine then crashes to the ground. These were small models of the giant AT-ATs that were filmed in the studio. Beneath the fake set were workers who controlled the AT-ATs. However, more was needed to make them fall. Therefore, holes were created at some points through which rods were used to assist. In the final film, this trick can still be seen — and thus a film error.
