The Force Kick
In Episode 6, there is a fight on the planet Tatooine, where Luke shows what he learned during his training with Yoda. He is noticeably stronger and has some Jedi tricks up his sleeve. However, a special moment in the fight is perplexing.
While Luke fights against Jabba the Hutt’s henchmen, he kicks one of them into a Sarlacc pit, where the carnivorous monster devours him. The curious thing is that Luke doesn’t actually touch the poor opponent. Mark Hamill’s foot only vaguely swings in the direction of the other actor.
It’s normal for stunts on film sets to ensure that no one gets hurt. However, in this case, Hamill was so overly cautious not to kick his colleague that the resulting distance is quite noticeable. It looks more like Luke is involuntarily using the Force here—hence the name “Force Kick” that fans have given to this action.
