Apex Legends starts today with the event Legendary Hunt, introducing a gameplay mode where you can complete challenges like in Fortnite. Find out here what new content is available and which skins and goodies you will receive.
Update: The event is here! After a significant delay due to the event and patch, everything has finally gone smoothly. Around midnight, the new content was finally uploaded and is now playable.
Original announcement:
What is the new mode Legendary Hunt? The Legendary Hunt is the end-event for the otherwise unpopular season 1 of Apex Legends. After not being able to do anything special throughout the entire season, there are now the eagerly awaited challenges and a new queue for top players.
The new mini-matchmaking of Apex
This is how the new elite queue works: You can play a kind of mini-ranking in the Legendary Hunt mode. The top 5 players of each round will now be placed in a separate “Elite Queue”.
This consists solely of players who recently made it into the top 5 of their match. So if you want to remain on this prestigious list, you need to consistently perform well.
Those who perform worse than the top 5 will be placed back in the regular list in the next match and will need to make it back into the top 5 to rejoin the elite.
As a special bonus, all players who make it into the top 5 at least once a day will receive a level in the battle pass as a gift. This noticeably eases the annoying grind.
What can you win in the new event mode?
What are the challenges about? The Legendary Hunt brings special challenges in addition to the elite list, allowing you to earn special bonuses.
The challenges will be revealed later today, on June 4, 2019, but data miners have already found leaks. According to these, the challenges are as follows:
- Reach the top 5 in any match: Legendary Hunt badge
- Reach the top 5 again in an elite match: Rare G7 skin “Wolfpack”
- Reach the top 5 five times in any queue: Epic Bloodhound skin “Master of the Hunt”
- Win twice in any queue: Legendary Triple-Take skin “Tamed Beast”
The challenges might still change or be expanded. We will inform you as soon as we know more.
What else can you win? Those who already have the season 1 battle pass will automatically receive a legendary skin for the R-301 named “Honored Prey”. Additionally, those who reach level 15 will also receive a legendary skin for Wraith named “Night Terror”.
When does all this start? The Legendary Hunt and the challenges will go live today, on June 4, 2019, at 7:00 PM our time. You have until June 18 to complete all tasks.
This is how the double XP event works: To optimally shorten the grind to level 100 in the battle pass, there will also be a double XP event from June 7 at 7:00 PM until June 10, where you will earn double experience points for all activities.
When does season 2 come? Officially we know nothing about that, but it is very likely that Respawn Entertainment will start season 2 soon after the event ends on June 18.
