In ARC Raiders, a new movement has formed that is currently gaining more and more traction. As self-proclaimed sheriffs, the players are fighting for good against the nasty robots and killers in the game.
What kind of movement is this? In ARC Raiders, players are free to interact with others as they choose. Only the evil robots of the ARC are directly hostile to the Raiders.
It has developed so that players, unlike in comparable shooters, are particularly friendly and peaceful towards other players. Out of this disposition, a kind of movement has now formed: The Sheriffs.

What distinguishes a sheriff? The new movement of the good in ARC Raiders is currently gaining significant popularity. One of them explains on Reddit what it means to be a sheriff.
You are not alone.
I have found my niche. I have found my purpose. I have found the meaning of Raider life.
Life as a lone sheriff. It is not easy to kill a person. You take everything they have and everything they could have had.
I jump in. I listen for sounds, gunshots, flares. I assess the situation. I am here to help, to fight against the Arcs. All Arcs. I will pick you up, tend to your wounds. I kill murderers, just like Judge Dredd. Without mercy. I have never killed a person who did not deserve it.
You can have the loot. My reward is justice.
Join me. Against the Arcs, for humanity.
Make a change. Report in. Resist. Fight for good.

As a sheriff, one tries to bring order to the chaos of ARC Raiders. In doing so, one helps peaceful Raiders during the game and confronts the villains and the ARC, which hold the surface of the Earth occupied.
How does one become a sheriff? To become one of the good, there is no application process; you simply do it through your attitude in the game. Helping others, fighting against evil, and aiding humanity. Whoever represents these values automatically becomes a sheriff, but there are also problems with the good Samaritans.
How do the sheriffs get along? Many gamers are pleased that the typical “I shoot everything” play style has not established itself in ARC Raiders. Especially in single-player mode, there are many players who prefer to avoid fights. But sometimes problems arise here too due to the sheriffs.
User Isaacvithurston recounts on Reddit that he was attacked by a villain, and after defending himself, was additionally attacked by a sheriff who believed the victim was the perpetrator.
Similarly, user TurdPhysics writes on Reddit: “This is so funny, man. I was just hunting Sentinels with some cheap gear when a Raider came from behind and opened fire. I took him out, got shot in the back, and took cover to heal. I hear the third one say: ‘Don’t give up! Don’t give up! I’ve got you! Let’s get him.’ They take me out, and Sheriff Whitey Knighty starts insulting me with the usual shooter console phrases. I respond with ‘Your buddy shot at me first, man,’ just as the first Raider opens fire on his rescuer. Incredible vigilante scenario.”
That players are deviating from the usual PvP aspect and working together for better gameplay is an interesting turn of events, especially since this does not happen in other extraction shooters. How the cooperation of players can look is also clearly shown by this example: Trio defeats the most difficult opponent in ARC Raiders in 1 minute, which has caused entire lobbies to fail.
